Byways & Highways take Travel Plan Coordinator Role in Workplace Travel Plan for Tolvaddon
8th May 2008Due to the imminent expansion of Tolvaddon Energy Park (home to the Cornwall office of Byways & Highways) from Phase 1 up to Phase 3, early discussions have been undertaken between ourselves and representatives of the SWERDA backed expansion.

We have undertaken a workplace travel plan survey of all current employees throughout the offices on site, numbering approximately 150, and established existing travel modes and patterns. The data has been processed to demonstrate that currently 78% of workers drive to work; 11% are car passengers; only 3% travel by Public Transport whilst 8% travel by foot or bicycle.
Clearly there is much work to be done, and within our self appointed Travel Plan Coordinator role (mainly as we were the instigators and nobody else stepped forward!!), we intend to roll out a number of transport initiatives to basically educate people with regard to viable alternatives to the private car and initially to set up a site based car-sharing database. Car sharing already takes place to a degree, but will be so much more effective once everyone is aware of the possibilities.
Watch this space for developing news and that all important modal shift percentage!!
